Acetic acid is an organic (carboxylic) acid which comes in form of a colorless liquid with a pungent smell. Acetic acid is an important industrial chemical which is used in the production of photohraphic films, various types of glue, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and other artificial materials. Acetic acid is sometimes also used for cleaning; it can also commonly be found in form of vinegar.
As already mentioned, acetic acid can be found in form of vinegar - usually at a fairly low price in most grocery stores. Such solutions usually contain about 9% of acetic acid. Formerly acetic acid could have been found in higher concentrations (for the purpose of pickling), but nowadays such products are found rarely (in Croatia).
