Disclaimer The main purpose of this site is to present the experimental side of chemistry as an interesting hobby to people interested in science. Sites like this can easily be found written in English language. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Croatian language. Because of that, I decided to document various projects I've done so far. These will gradually be added to the site. Along with the descriptions of chemicals, syntheses and other procedures that could be useful in experimental chemistry, there is also a knowledge database which contains some of the basic things a chemist needs to know. By using the knowledge database, those who don't know much about chemistry can easily access essential knowledge without leaving the site. Although most of the content is related to chemistry, the forum is open for everyone, regardless of what science one is most interested in. Amateur science, in the context of home experimentation, is a clear sign of a great interest one has towards science. While some stay at the mentioned amateur level, some decide to pursue a career in science. Although professional science sometimes ridicules the domain of amateur science, the importance of amateur science can hardly be denied. Among other things, there are many technological advances, and even scientific discoveries that have been made by amateur scientists. The procedures described on this site do not necessarily present the best way something can be done. Instead, the goal is to encourage ingenuity among young people, since theoretical knowledge alone does not guarantee the ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances or situations in which not everything is available, that would normally be used in professional science. Along with what has been said, it is important to mention that the procedures described here are not to be repeated by everyone, since some of the procedures require a greater amount of knowledge and experience. Because of that, the author is not responsible for the potential danger to which inexperienced individuals could expose themselves to by carrying out procedures described here. The author is also not responsible for any other form of misuse of information that can be found on this site. Unfortunately, there is always a chance that someone will try to misuse the information that he or she has, at his or her disposal, but I do not believe that is a good enough reason to keep projects of this type unpublished. |
